Mr Sancho’s Review: Is It Worth Your Cozumel Port Day?

Our very first cruise was a 4-day trip where Cozumel was our only port, and if you’re in the same boat (literally), you’re probably wondering where to spend your one precious beach day. After a lot of research, reviews, and word-of-mouth recommendations, we landed on Mr. Sancho’s. And after spending a full day there, we’ve got one thing to say: no regrets.

This is our honest Mr Sancho’s review in Cozumel: the vibe, the food, the Couples Bungalow experience, and everything in between. Whether you’re booking your first cruise or just want to know if this beach club lives up to the hype, here’s a recap from our visit at Mr Sanchos with details, pricing, and helpful tips & tricks.

Where is Mr Sancho’s Beach Club?

Mr Sancho’s is located on the southwestern coast of Cozumel, Mexico and about 15–20 minutes from the main cruise port by taxi. It’s nestled right along the island’s coastline, with postcard-worthy beachfront, swaying palms, and thatched-roof palapas. The location is super convenient for cruise passengers since it’s just a short ride from the dock, and taxis are always waiting outside the port. The drive is smooth and scenic, giving you that early glimpse of paradise before you even step onto the sand. Whether you’re arriving by cruise ship or staying on the island, it’s easy to find and well-known by every driver.

Getting there + check-in tips

We pre-booked online through the Mr. Sancho’s website and brought a printed confirmation with our reservation number and a form of ID. Depending on if you paid your passes in full or just put the deposit down, that will determine if you need to bring any form of payment (other than cash for tips and taxis). We paid ours in full at the time of booking, but many also make the deposit then settle the final payment upon arrival. That’s all you need for check-in: simple and straightforward.

From the Cozumel cruise port, the taxi ride took about 10–15 minutes, depending on traffic. We paid $40 total for two people roundtrip ($20 each way), but it is cheaper if you share cabs with other people heading to the same destination. Once we arrived, check-in was fast, staff were friendly, and we were at our bungalow within minutes.

What to expect at Mr Sancho’s

Let’s be upfront: Mr. Sancho’s is not the quiet, luxury spa-on-the-beach kind of place. It’s got energy. Music’s pumping, the swim-up bar is busy, and if someone’s not doing a poolside tequila shot, they will be in 5 minutes.

But that’s what we loved about it. It’s social without being chaotic, and even though it’s known for its party atmosphere, there’s still room to do your own thing and relax by the beach. We saw couples tanning in peace, big friend groups and bachelorette trips, and families enjoying their time together along the beach.

The beach itself is stunning, with soft sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. You can hop into the ocean, chill in the pool, or dive into one of the many activities available like snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, or just grabbing a margarita at the swim-up bar.

The pool area is lively and social, while the beachfront offers plenty of shaded spots and lounge chairs if you’re looking to just chill (get there early if you want a prime location though). If you have kids with you, the inflatable aquatic park is a huge hit and gives them a full afternoon of fun. But if you’re in the mood for something calmer, the spa area has beachside massage services that’ll make you feel like you’re in a full resort, not just a beach club.

If you want more of a calm environment, Paradise Beach is just down the road, but we haven’t gone there before so not sure how it compares to Sancho’s. But if you’re down for a good time with strong drinks and good vibes all around, keep reading this Mr Sanchos review because this might be your spot.

Our couples bungalow experience

We booked the Couples Bungalow at Mr Sancho’s, and honestly, it’s what took the whole experience to the next level. It gave us a private shaded area with a lounger bed, dedicated personal waiter, and complimentary couples massage. The tables are first come, first serve, and the areas closest to the beach get snatched up quickly if you’re not there as soon as they open. With the bungalow, we didn’t have to stress about where our stuff was going to be or sharing a table with other people since we had a dedicated table facing the ocean right in front of our bungalow.

The best part? We had a quiet space to recharge in between dips in the ocean and trips to the pool bar. If you’re looking for just a little more comfort and privacy without losing access to all the fun, this upgrade is totally worth it. It made our first-time experience at Mr Sanchos Cozumel feel personalized and a little extra in the best way.

Drinks & food at Mr Sancho’s

Let’s be real. You’re coming here for the drinks and the good vibes. And they do not disappoint. I stuck with strawberry daiquiris while my husband switched it up with spicy margs and tequila shots. Everything was strong, cold, and refreshingly bottomless. The bartenders know how to keep the energy up without making it feel like a free-for-all. I absolutely LOVED all the handwritten sayings or phrases on the cups. It made for a special surprise when the bartenders gave us our drinks because we were eager to see what our next cup would say.

Food-wise, it was… fine. I got the quesadillas, and yeah, they hit the spot especially once the drinks kicked in. Call it good drunk food. Nothing I’d write home about, but definitely what you want when you’ve been in the sun all day and need something filling. For the price of the all-inclusive pass, it’s hard to complain.

Optional tours & activities at Mr. Sancho’s

If you’re looking to level up your beach day, Mr. Sancho’s also offers a variety of paid tours and activities beyond the standard all-inclusive experience. You can rent wave runners, go parasailing, book a horseback ride along the shoreline, or take part in a guided ATV tour through Cozumel’s jungle trails. There’s even a full on-site Aquatic Park with inflatable obstacles in the ocean for kids and adults alike.

While these aren’t included in the base day pass or bungalow cost, they’re easy to book on the spot or online ahead of time and can add a little extra adventure to your visit if lounging by the water just isn’t enough. We didn’t try any of the add-ons during our first visit, but we definitely had a bit of FOMO watching people fly by on jet skis.

Vendors at Mr Sancho’s

One of the coolest parts of our Mr Sanchos experience was how many little extras there were without anyone being too pushy. Along the beach and throughout the club, we saw vendors offering everything from handmade bracelets and fish foot spas (yep, those little guys that nibble off dead skin) to massages, temporary tattoos, and even parrot photo ops. We literally made it a mission to hunt down the parrot guys so we could get a picture with them.

There was also a roaming mariachi band that stopped by each bungalow and throughout the club. It added to the vibe without feeling like anyone was trying to nickel and dime us. You can easily keep your day all-inclusive and skip everything else, or say yes to whatever feels fun in the moment. We got matching handmade bracelets and still have them today as a keepsake from our trip.

Family-friendly? Don’t let that stop you

Although we booked the Couples Bungalow and spent most of our time in that quieter, more secluded area, it’s worth noting that Mr Sanchos is not an adults-only resort. It’s 100% family-friendly, and there were definitely kids around, especially near the main pool and aquatic park. They offer a large inflatable water park in the ocean that’s super popular with kids and teens, along with activities like horseback riding and beach games.

That said, we barely noticed any of it because our bungalow area was so chill and separate from the other chaos on the other side of the resort. We were near the adults only pool, so we kinda forgot there was any kids there until we made our way to the beach. If you want the party vibe without being in the middle of a family resort feel, the adults-only area gives you that escape while still being part of everything.

Spa suites: Relaxed escape within the party

While Mr. Sancho’s is known for its all-inclusive party vibe, they also offer a more serene option for couples or anyone craving a quiet, pampered beach day. The Mr Sanchos Spa Suites are beachfront cabanas tucked away from the buzz, designed specifically for relaxation. These private suites come with a 60-minute massage, hot stone therapy, reflexology, and access to hydrotherapy pools, all in your own tranquil corner of the resort. It’s literally like a resort room with a bed, TV, air-conditioning, private pool, and many other items, but only access for the day (so far).

If the Couples Bungalow felt like luxury with a party nearby, the Spa Suite feels like a mini wellness retreat with your own room and private pool to escape to. We didn’t try it this time around, but it’s definitely on our list for a future visit. It’s a great alternative if you want Mr. Sancho’s hospitality with a more peaceful and secluded twist without losing out on the fun.

How much we paid at Mr Sanchos

The cost for a day at Mr Sanchos is surprisingly reasonable considering everything that’s included. The All-Inclusive Day Pass is $68 USD per adult, which covers unlimited food and drinks, access to the beach and pool areas, loungers, and shaded seating. For teens (12-17 years old), the price for their pass is $45 USD, and $40 for kids. We upgraded to the Couples Bungalow, which cost $260 total for two people, and it was worth every penny. With the bungalow, we got the day-passes included, private bungalow, couples massage, dedicated table in front of our bungalow, and a personal waiter who kept the drinks flowing all day long.

Our round-trip taxi from the cruise port cost us $40 total ($20 each way). We also brought cash for tipping our waiter and bungalow host, which was about $50 in small bills, but it went a long way in showing appreciation for the incredible service.

There are also optional add-ons like beachside massages (around $35 for 30 minutes), horseback riding for $40, or access to the aquatic park for $14 per person. You don’t have to spend extra, but if you’re looking to pack more into your day, those options are available and easy to book on the spot.

All in, we spent around $200 per person for a full day of relaxation, drinks, food, experiences, and a private shaded retreat, and honestly, we’d do it again in a heartbeat. Keep in mind, if you only book the day pass, you’d still come out having the time of your life if you’re balling on a budget.

When’s the best time to visit Mr. Sancho’s?

Mr Sanchos Beach Club is open year-round, but the experience can vary depending on when you go. Peak season runs from December to April, and it’s the most popular time to visit. We went in January and it was perfect weather. Expect warm, sunny days, low rainfall, and big crowds, especially when multiple cruise ships are in port. If you’re looking for high energy and lots of people to mingle with, this is your window. Prices can sometimes be a bit higher during this time, but the weather and experience makes up for it.

The shoulder seasons (May to July and October to November) offer a nice balance of warm weather, fewer crowds, and more affordable prices. These months are ideal if you want the full experience without the chaos. Lastly, August to September is considered the low season with fewer people, cheaper rates, but also a higher chance of rain and storms due to hurricane season. If you’re flexible and okay with a gamble on weather, this can be a great time to visit with a more relaxed atmosphere.

Returning back to the cruise port

The worst part about Mr Sanchos is having to leave. It truly is such a vibe and makes you want to book your next trip back already. If you’re arriving by cruise ship, definitely keep an eye on the clock. It is important to note that most shore excursions to Mr Sanchos Beach Club include a set return time, but we still recommend giving yourself a little buffer.

It’s easy to lose track of time when the drinks are flowing and the sun’s out. Build in some extra margin in case of unexpected traffic or delays because the last thing you want is to be sprinting to the port while your ship is already pulling away.

Final thoughts of our Mr Sanchos review

To recap, this Mr Sanchos review in Cozumel is based off our personal experience, and let me just say, book the passes. If your cruise is stopping in Cozumel and you want a guaranteed fun day without overthinking it, book it. You don’t have to worry about anything once you’re on property. Knowing this takes the stress out of all the prior planning you do ahead of time.

Between the drinks, the bungalow, the friendly service, and the overall experience, it checked every box for what we wanted in our one port day. It’s not luxury, but it is memorable, and when you only have a few hours to soak up a slice of Mexico, we’d absolutely do it again.
